As part of its innovation program, Multi Xplora, the company held the third edition of its Innovation Pitch Day, marking the close of a year-long process in which more than 80 projects were proposed by employees to address challenges across the company’s value chain. The event, held at the Enjoy Hotel in Puerto Varas, brought together 150 attendees, including members of the external innovation ecosystem, as well as company directors, executives, and employees.
An expert jury evaluated the eight finalist projects, selecting three of them to receive funding and technical support to be piloted in the coming months. During the deliberation process, the jury praised the professionalism of the finalist teams and highlighted the alignment of the projects with the company’s strategic objectives.
The winners of this edition were Óscar Arias, Head of Operations at Puyuhuapi and Refugio, with the project “Fuel Flow Control”; Marjorie Erazo, Concessions Manager, together with Paz Barriga and Diego Ormazábal, Environmental Analyst, with the project “Ahúma sin pausa, controla la causa”; and Simón Villarroel, Head of Control and Optimization, along with Marco Fierro, Head of Operations and Process Control, with the initiative “Machine Learning for the Optimization of Production Lines.”
“This third Innovation Pitch Day confirms the innovative mindset that defines us as an organization. We have learned that innovation can come from simple, everyday actions—by rethinking processes and making small adjustments that lead to greater efficiency. Everyone is welcome to innovate and actively participate in Multi Xplora, which has now completed three years of successful campaigns,” said Cristián Swett, CEO of Multi X.
The event also featured a panel moderated by Alberto del Pedregal, Multi X’s Deputy Manager of Strategy and Development, who discussed how innovation and partnerships with other stakeholders generate benefits and improved operational results. Panelists included Macarena Carrió, Director of CBT Patagonia at SOFOFA HUB; Carlos Muñoz, Partner and Project Manager at Inspiral; and Daniela Allerbon, CEO of Aquit. In addition, the event welcomed guest speaker Ignacio Navarrete—entrepreneur, lawyer, and actor—who spoke about how to maintain an innovative mindset in everyday work.
The Multi Xplora program reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its internal culture of innovation by encouraging employees to propose improvement ideas. During the 2024–2025 annual campaign, the innovation team conducted 16 workshops at Multi X facilities from La Araucanía to Magallanes, with the participation of 220 on-site employees. More than 80 ideas were submitted, with the selected finalist projects developed throughout the year. The next annual campaign, 2025–2026, will begin later this month.
One of the winners of this Pitch Day, Simón Villarroel, Head of Control and Optimization, noted that “we are motivated by innovation and by questioning the reasons behind things. Within our teams, we share ideas and perspectives and constantly challenge ourselves to find better ways of doing things. We work closely with suppliers to seek solutions to existing challenges. We realized that innovation is about identifying opportunities and taking them, and we are very happy with this result.”
During the event, the “Multi Xplora Spirit” award was also presented to Francisco Reyes, Head of Subsea Robotics, in recognition of his daily dedication to promoting innovation within the company.
