José Ramón Gutiérrez joined the company as a founding partner in 1987, strongly supporting the development of salmon farming from cultivation to processing and sales, achieving, over the years, significant knowledge in terms of Quality, Safety, and Food Security.
He has been Chairman of the Board of SalmonChile A.G on 2 occasions and several times Vice-Chairman. In 2003, he co-founded the international trade organization SALMON OF THE AMERICAS and has been a member of the Chilean Advisory Council of ENDEAVOR, an international organization that promotes entrepreneurship. During 2012 and 2013, he served as Co-Chairman of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), a leadership initiative of the world’s leading farmed salmon producers committed to making significant improvements to ensure the sustainability of the industry.
José Ramón is a widely recognized leader in the Chilean aquaculture industry, who played a key role in the development of new regulations for the Chilean salmon industry. In 2011, he was selected as one of the 30 leading figures in the global aquaculture industry by Intrafish Media Group. Additionally, in 2012, he was recognized by El Mercurio as one of the 100 most respected business leaders in Chile.
